Corinaldo church study and Varapodio tomb featured in Italian archaeology events

The Archeoclub d’Italia organized a public presentation in Corinaldo of Dario Cingolani’s volume on the Santa Maria in Portuno church, tracing its history from the 7th‑8th century through the early 14th century. The event, held on 4 August 2027, highlighted recent research that expands knowledge of the church’s architecture and medieval ownership disputes.

On 31 July, the National Archaeological Museum of Reggio Calabria hosted a conference on the Dama di Varapodio, focusing on the glass cup and gold earrings recovered from the 3rd‑century BC tomb. Professor Felice Costabile discussed the artifacts’ origins in Alexandria Egypt and their significance within the region’s Hellenistic and Roman history.
