Corinthians aims to settle Memphis Depay contract by Monday

Corinthians football executive Marcelo Paz said the club expects to resolve the renewal of Dutch striker Memphis Depay's contract by Monday, 27 July, before the current deal expires on 31 July. Depay has agreed to lower his salary request and the proposed agreement could include a new contract model featuring product licensing, event participation and sponsorship revenue.

The club is under four FIFA transfer bans and a CBF ban due to unpaid debts, limiting its ability to register new players. While the renewal talks continue, speculation about a move to Flamengo has circulated; ESPN Netherlands reported a Flamengo offer, but Flamengo officials dismissed the claim as unfounded. Depay’s agent indicated that Flamengo was once a priority, but financial terms stalled that option.

Depay reportedly seeks a three‑year contract, which Corinthians is hesitant to grant, preferring a shorter term. The outcome of the negotiations will affect the club’s squad planning and its ability to comply with the transfer bans.
