Corinthians and Palmeiras report large financial deficits
Corinthians disclosed that it has paid more than R$170 million in debts and is now relying on player sales to improve its finances. The club says it has not spent on transfer fees this season and has kept salaries within its budget, but it still owes image‑rights payments for July and previously delayed salaries for two months, which were later regularised.
Palmeiras posted revenues of R$503.4 million in the first five months of 2026, surpassing the half‑billion‑real mark, yet the club ended the period with an operational deficit of R$65.9 million and a total deficit of R$121.6 million. The shortfall stemmed mainly from lower‑than‑expected income from player transfers, which generated only R$78 million against a target of R$235.7 million. Financial income of R$108.2 million helped limit the loss, but the club fell well short of its projected surplus.
