Corinthians Council expels Marcelo Mariano amid internal turmoil

The Corinthians Deliberative Council recently held significant votes regarding club membership and internal discipline. Marcelo Mariano, an associate linked to president Osmar Stabile, was expelled from the club following accusations involving the ‘Vai de Bet’ case. The expulsion was secured by 35 votes, while 21 members voted for a one-year suspension as an alternative penalty. Forty-two members were present but absent from the room during the specific vote.

In a separate development, journalist Paulinho, editor of Blog do Paulinho, had his right to return to the club’s associate membership restored by a 69-to-7 vote. However, the journalist reported being physically assaulted by Alexandre Domênico, president of the Gaviões da Fiel supporters' group, at the entrance of Parque São Jorge. The incident involved punches directed at the journalist and damage to his vehicle, occurring amidst the political tensions surrounding the club's administration.
