Memphis Depay renews contract with Corinthians until 2028
Corinthians has officially renewed the contract of Dutch striker Memphis Depay until July 2028. The agreement follows a period of uncertainty after the club initially announced it would not renew the deal due to financial constraints.
To facilitate the extension, Depay accepted significant financial concessions. The player agreed to reduce his previous compensation package, including waiving a monthly housing allowance of R$ 250,000 and reducing marketing revenue commitments. The new deal involves a total estimated value of approximately R$ 135.5 million, which includes the new contract and the restructuring of existing debts.
The club will settle a restructured debt of approximately R$ 42 million (down from an original R$ 77 million after concessions) in four installments between 2027 and 2028. This arrangement is intended to help the club manage its cash flow and comply with financial fair play regulations.
Depay has already returned to training at the CT Joaquim Grava under coach Fernando Diniz. He is expected to be available for Corinthians' upcoming CONMEBOL Libertadores match against Rosario Central.
