Corinthians faces rising relegation risk in Brasileirão
Corinthians is facing an increased risk of relegation to Série B following the worst performance of the second half of the Campeonato Brasileiro Série A season. According to a study by the Federal University of Minas Gerais (UFMG), the club's probability of relegation has risen to 14.6%, up from 8.9% prior to the 27th round.
In the last eight matches of the second half, the team has achieved only a 20.8% success rate, recording one victory, two draws, and five losses. This includes a recent 2-1 defeat against Flamengo, marking the fifth consecutive loss under coach Fernando Diniz.
Amidst these domestic struggles, the club is also competing in the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals, where they face Estudiantes following a 1-1 draw in the first leg. Corinthians is scheduled to play Fluminense in the Brazilian Championship this coming Sunday to attempt to improve their standing.
