Corinthians President discusses SAF proposal and player contract clauses

Corinthians President Osmar Stabile has reached an agreement with the group ‘SAFiel’ to move forward with a proposal for the creation of a Football Corporation (SAF). The agreement is contingent on ‘SAFiel’ providing the necessary funds to settle the club's debt regarding the Neo Química Arena. While the parties have reached a preliminary understanding, the operation must still undergo the club's statutory processes.

Separately, Stabile addressed recent controversies involving player Memphis Depay. The president confirmed that all new player contracts include an ‘anti-political clause’ designed to prevent athletes from involving themselves in the club's internal political matters. This measure follows a recent incident where Depay released a music video, ‘Don’t Panic’, which featured imagery of the club's headquarters in flames and lyrical references to a ‘vice-president’ being an enemy. Stabile noted that Depay was fined 20% of his salary following the release, though the club has since treated the matter as closed.
