Corinthians launches six‑day task force to fix Neo Química Arena grass

Corinthians officials, arena management and pitch specialists met to address the deteriorating playing surface at Neo Química Arena. Executive Marcelo Paz announced a six‑day emergency task force after players and coaches complained about uneven and exposed sand on the field.

The club has fully replaced the turf, removing the old layer and sowing winter ryegrass on a sand‑and‑synthetic‑fiber base. The new surface requires about eight weeks to mature, but matches resumed roughly 40 days after sowing, leaving the grass thinner and the sand more exposed in high‑wear areas. The schedule was delayed by a friendly between Brazil and the United States women's teams on 6 June, pushing the start of the renovation past the planned date after the Corinthians‑Platense match on 27 May. The club expects the pitch to reach 90 % of ideal conditions against Remo, 95 % versus Athletico‑PR, and full recovery for the upcoming game against Internacional.
