Corinthians negotiate new contract for Memphis Depay

Corinthians are working to renew striker Memphis Depay’s contract, which expires on 31 July 2025. The club has presented a new proposal that includes a higher salary, marketing‑related revenues and performance bonuses, while also addressing a roughly R$ 40 million debt linked to the player’s deal. Club director Marcelo Paz said, “Posso afirmar que temos uma proposta que abrange muitas áreas, e é um diálogo em andamento.”

While Depay rests after the Netherlands’ World Cup exit, he posted a video of a personalized training session with former Corinthians fitness coach Diego Pereira. The club plans to split the new contract’s costs between its football and marketing departments and to seek commercial partners to help fund the deal, which could involve up to R$ 43 million in deferred bonuses. Corinthians, currently mid‑table in the Brazilian Serie A and aiming for a top‑four finish, consider Depay a key offensive asset, and fans have voiced strong support for his stay.

The negotiations remain pending, with both sides hoping to reach an agreement before the player’s holiday period ends.
