Corinthians negotiates contract renewal with Memphis Depay

Memphis Depay returned to action for Corinthians after a two‑month injury lay‑off, playing in a 1‑0 win over Atlético‑MG in Brazil's Serie A. His contract runs until 20 June 2028 and the club has formally submitted a renewal proposal, aiming to keep the striker for another two years.

Corinthians plans to finance the new deal with up to three commercial partners and to spread the roughly R$ 40 million debt owed to Depay over 24 months, targeting a payment of about R$ 3 million per month. The player has signaled willingness to accept a reduced salary and a restructured contract, acknowledging the club’s financial constraints. Executives say the negotiation enjoys broad support from the board, coaching staff, teammates and fans, while the club continues to seek additional commercial backing to meet the terms.
