Memphis Depay renews contract with Corinthians until 2028

Memphis Depay has officially renewed his contract with Corinthians until July 2028. The deal follows a period of intense negotiation and initial reports that the club would not renew due to financial constraints. To facilitate the agreement, Depay reportedly reduced his salary demands and marketing rights, helping the club save approximately R$ 16 million. The total value of the deal is estimated at roughly 135.5 million reais, including the refinancing of previous debts.

Following his return to the pitch, Depay provided a crucial assist in Corinthians' victory over Rosario Central, securing their qualification for the Copa Libertadores quarterfinals. The player has demonstrated significant impact in knockout matches, accumulating nine assists and four goals in such competitions.

In addition to the star signing, Corinthians is testing futsal standout Maicon on the field at the request of coach Fernando Diniz. Meanwhile, club executive Marcelo Paz emphasized that the priority remains financial stability and paying existing salaries rather than pursuing new high-cost signings like Paul Pogba.
