Memphis Depay renewal talks resume with Corinthians

Corinthians has reopened negotiations to renew the contract of Dutch attacker Memphis Depay. The discussions follow a previous attempt to finalize an agreement that was abruptly halted by the club due to financial concerns.

Memphis Depay has shown willingness to negotiate, including removing certain clauses such as a monthly housing allowance. The club is seeking a reduction of approximately R$ 30 million in the total contract value, which is currently estimated at R$ 157 million. To assist with the costs, sponsor Fatal Fans has proposed a matching fund, offering to double investments made by other sponsors up to a total of R$ 10 million.

President Osmar Stabile has consulted the club’s Orientation Council (CORI) to review the terms. While the CORI provides advisory opinions rather than binding decisions, its approval is a key step in the process. Coach Fernando Diniz has expressed optimism regarding the potential return of the player to the squad.
