Corinthians settles $7 million debt to Argentine club Talleres over Rodrigo Garro transfer

Brazilian club Corinthians confirmed on 19 June that it has paid a $7 million (≈ R$ 35 million) debt to Argentine side Club Atlético Talleres, ending a multi‑month dispute over the 2024 transfer of midfielder Rodrigo Garro. The payment resolves the outstanding amount that had attracted FIFA complaints and threatened a further transfer ban for the São Paulo‑based team.

The settlement follows intensive negotiations, arbitration rulings by the Court of Arbitration for Sport and interest‑bearing penalties. Corinthians said the deal “symbolises our seriousness, commitment and respect for international partners,” and thanked Talleres president Andrés Fassi for his cooperation. While the Garro debt is now cleared, Corinthians remains subject to an existing FIFA transfer ban linked to a separate dispute with the Philadelphia Union over player José Martínez.

The resolution provides financial relief for Talleres, allowing it to allocate the funds to other projects, and removes the immediate risk of sporting sanctions for Corinthians, enabling the club to focus on its domestic competitions.
