Corinthians striker Pedro Raul's future uncertain due to salary and transfer issues
Corinthians' striker Pedro Raul is facing an unclear future as the club struggles to find a buyer willing to absorb his high wage bill. Interest has been shown by several Brazilian teams including Fortaleza, Coritiba, Vitória and Remo, but the striker's salary and a hefty release clause – R$300 million for domestic clubs and €100 million for overseas suitors – have stalled negotiations.
The player, under contract until the end of 2028, was initially signed for roughly US$5 million from Toluca, with the total cost projected to rise to about US$8 million after renegotiated payments. Corinthians' board, citing a lack of expected performance and the financial burden, is exploring a loan move that would shift his full salary to a prospective club, while also keeping the option of a permanent sale open.
These developments highlight the club's effort to balance squad needs with fiscal responsibility amid a market where high salaries limit transfer possibilities.
