Corinthians tests futsal player Maicon in under-20 football squad

Corinthians is testing 22-year-old Maicon, a former futsal player, within its under-20 football squad. The transition was requested by coach Fernando Diniz. While Maicon has received positive internal evaluations, there is currently no schedule for him to join training sessions with the club's main team at the Joaquim Grava training center.

Experts note that transitioning from futsal to field football presents physical challenges, including increased running distances, longer acceleration periods, and the need for sustained effort without the frequent substitutions common in futsal. The club appears to be looking at the successful precedent of Leozinho, who transitioned from futsal to become a regular starter for Athletico-PR.
