Mirassol defeats Coritiba 2-1 to stay out of relegation zone
Mirassol secured a vital 2-1 comeback victory against Coritiba at the Couto Pereira stadium during the 26th round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. The win, which ended a five-game winless streak for the São Paulo-based side, moves Mirassol to 28 points, keeping them in 16th place and outside the relegation zone (Z-4).
Coritiba opened the scoring in the second half through Pedro Rocha, but Mirassol responded quickly with a goal from Gustavo Mosquito. Bruno Santos eventually secured the win for Mirassol in the 38th minute of the second half. The match featured significant VAR interventions, including an annulled Coritiba goal due to semi-automated offside technology and a late overturned penalty.
The result maintains the pressure on Vasco da Gama and Internacional. Vasco, having lost to Fluminense, remains in the Z-4 with 25 points. Internacional, despite having the opportunity to match Mirassol's points in their upcoming match against Santos, would remain in the relegation zone due to a lower number of victories.
