Cork police seize drugs, weapons, and animals in Mahon raids
A man in his 20s has been arrested following a multi-agency operation targeting criminal activity in the Mahon area of Cork city. During searches of six properties, An Garda Síochána seized a diverse range of items, including €6,000 in cash, suspected heroin and crack cocaine, and various weapons such as machetes, swords, slash hooks, hammers, baseball bats, and slingshots.
Vehicles and equipment seized included electric scramblers, e-scooters, and two caravans. The operation also involved the National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (NSPCA), which seized ten dogs, a pony, and a horse. These animals are scheduled to undergo veterinary examinations.
The high-impact search involved several specialist units, including the Armed Support Unit, the Dog Unit, and the Serious Crime Investigation Units, alongside officials from Revenue and the Department of Social Protection. The man remains in custody as investigations continue.
