Italy honors fallen Carabinieri officers in multiple ceremonies

Various ceremonies were held across Italy to honor Carabinieri officers who lost their lives in the line of duty.

In Corleone, officials and family members gathered to commemorate Carabiniere Scelto Clemente Bovi, who was awarded the Gold Medal for Military Valor ‘Alla Memoria’. Bovi was killed in 1959 after confronting an armed gang in the countryside near Corleone. The ceremony included the placement of a laurel wreath at a memorial site and religious services.

In Bovalino, authorities and family members remembered Brigadier Antonino Marino, who was assassinated 36 years ago during a patronal festival. Marino, a recipient of the Gold Medal for Civil Valor, had a career marked by investigations into organized crime and kidnappings.

Additionally, the community in Angri held a ceremony at the Collegiata di San Giovanni Battista to mark the 51st anniversary of the death of Brigadier Gioacchino D’Anna, who fell during a robbery in 1975.
