Corn harvesting in Greece shows regional price variations

Corn harvesting is currently underway across Greece, with producers reporting moderate to good yields despite regional variations. In Ioannina, producer prices remain steady at 250 euros per ton, while in Drama, prices are recorded at 200 euros per ton. This 50-euro difference highlights the lack of a unified national average for the current period.

In the Ilia region, yields for small and medium biological cycle corn range between 1,200 and 1,400 kg per stremma, with prices around 25 cents per kilo. However, rising production costs continue to squeeze profit margins for farmers. In Boeotia, while crop conditions are generally good and water availability has not been a major issue, wild boar have caused significant damage to fields.

On the international market, the Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) has shown an upward trend, with corn closing the week up 4.8% at 536.75 cents per bushel.
