Cornel Bubui, Oradea's beloved Santa Claus, passes away at 66

Cornel Bubui, a well-known figure in Oradea recognized by many children as Santa Claus, has passed away at the age of 66. The news was shared by his wife, Margareta Bubui, via social media.

Bubui was a prominent member of the Bihor community, known for nearly two decades for his appearances at winter holiday events, fairs, and celebrations. In addition to his role as Santa Claus, he was a respected dancer and instructor. He was noted for his natural long white hair and beard, and he often carried candy to distribute to children during his walks through the city.

The funeral is scheduled for Tuesday, August 25, at 15:00 at the Oradea City Chapel in the Rulikowski Municipal Cemetery.
