Cornell University faculty report fails to address ideological bias
A 238-page report from Cornell University’s Committee on the Future of the American University has concluded without proposing concrete measures to address ideological bias within the institution. The study follows criticisms regarding an academic echo chamber, including data suggesting a significant partisan imbalance among humanities professors.
The report acknowledges concerns regarding viewpoint diversity and the need for the university to adapt to honor its purpose in American life. However, it found no consensus on how to handle ideological bias. Some faculty members within the report suggested that the existing imbalance is not a problem, arguing that liberal faculty can incorporate or explain conservative values when necessary.
