Cornwall Council approves reduced affordable housing for Liskeard scheme

Cornwall Council has approved a revised scheme for the Tencreek Farm development near Liskeard, which will reduce the proportion of affordable housing from 25 per cent to 15 per cent. The 202-home project, located off Plymouth Road, is being developed by Wain Homes (South West) Ltd.

The decision has drawn criticism from Menheniot Parish Council. Local representatives, including Cllr Sean Smith, have raised concerns regarding whether residents from Liskeard and Menheniot will receive priority for the available affordable homes. The parish council has also sought clarification on whether local need will be prioritized within housing association rentals.

In addition to the reduction in affordable housing, the developer has requested changes to the Section 106 agreement to remove certain financial contributions, citing viability grounds. The revised plans also include modifications to the development's layout, house types, highway arrangements, and the addition of a new bungalow design and footpath link.
