Cornwall Council faces wave of senior leadership resignations

Cornwall Council is facing significant leadership turnover following the resignation of its chief operating and finance officer, Annabel Scholes. This departure marks the third senior officer resignation in just over a week.

Ms. Scholes, who held the role of chief operating officer and Section 151 officer for six months, cited personal reasons for her departure. Her resignation follows the recent departure of CEO Kate Kennally, who resigned after a month-long leave of absence.

Liberal Democrat leader Leigh Frost described the situation as a “hefty bump in the road” but downplayed claims of a leadership crisis. Frost noted that Andy Keeling has stepped in as the interim deputy chief executive to maintain stability within the organization.
