Cornwall Council reviews dog exercise paddock proposal near Bude

Rob Broad, owner of Homeleigh Garden Centre, has submitted a planning application to Cornwall Council to convert a 1.89‑hectare agricultural field west of Brooks Garden Centre in Stratton, Bude, into a private, bookable dog exercise facility. The proposal calls for three fenced paddocks with 1.8‑metre perimeter fencing and agility equipment, using existing vehicular access and a concrete parking hardstanding. Broad describes the scheme as a modest, low‑impact and fully reversible diversification of his landholding, noting that a comparable dog training yard already operates nearby.

If approved, the land would shift from grassland/silage production to a secure off‑lead exercise area for dogs, with the nearest residential dwelling about 60 metres from the field boundary. The application emphasizes that no permanent loss of agricultural land will occur and that no new access or hardstanding is required.
