Cornwall featured at 55th InterCeltic Festival in France

Cornwall was featured prominently at the 55th InterCeltic Festival held in Lorient, France, from July 31 to August 9. The annual event attracts nearly one million spectators from various Celtic regions, including Scotland, Ireland, Wales, the Isle of Man, Brittany, and Galicia.

During the festival, Cornwall Council leader Cllr Leigh Frost signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Breton representatives. This agreement aims to foster cooperation between the two nations on shared interests such as heritage, tourism, renewable energy, and cultural exchanges.

Perran Moon, MP for Camborne, Redruth and Hayle, addressed a business forum regarding devolution and noted shared challenges between Cornwall and Brittany, such as the impact of second homes. The Cornish presence also included musical performances by the Truro Male Choir and a new work titled "Mermaid of Zennor."
