Cornwall National Landscape Secures £1 Million Lottery Grant

The Cornwall National Landscape partnership has been awarded more than £1 million in development funding from the UK National Lottery Heritage Fund’s Landscape Connections programme. The grant is part of an initiative that has already allocated £5 million to five projects and could release up to £42.6 million in further delivery grants over the next two years.

The funding will support work across four key areas of the Cornwall National Landscape – a region covering 12 separate geographical zones – and is delivered in partnership with the National Trust. It aims to tackle pressure from climate change and biodiversity loss through habitat restoration, peatland recovery, improved public access and community stewardship.

Stuart McLeod, director of the London and South region of the Heritage Fund, said the landscapes face “unprecedented challenges” and that collaboration between landowners, farmers, communities and partners is essential. Peter Lefort, chair of the Cornwall National Landscape Partnership, called the award “a landmark moment” for protecting the area’s natural heritage.
