Coronation Street to feature male breast cancer storyline

The ITV soap Coronation Street is set to explore the rare topic of male breast cancer through the character Kit Green, played by Jacob Roberts. The storyline follows Kit after he receives a stage three breast cancer diagnosis, which he initially decides to keep secret.

To ensure accuracy, the production is collaborating with Macmillan Cancer Support and Breast Cancer Now. Actor Jacob Roberts noted that he sought guidance from cast member Sally Dynevor, who has personally battled the disease. Roberts also utilized support groups for men to better understand the specific emotional experiences and stigmas faced by males dealing with the condition.

The narrative also touches upon familial risks, involving characters such as Bernie Winter-Alahan, who seeks testing for the BRCA gene mutation following the death of a relative from cancer.
