CORPOELEC secures agreement to boost power supply in Zulia
Venezuela’s state electricity company, CORPOELEC, has signed an agreement with the Turkish firm Karpowership to incorporate 200 megawatts of power into the Zulia state electrical system. The deal involves the contracting of two power generation barges to stabilize the supply in a region frequently affected by service failures.
Acting President Delcy Rodríguez announced the agreement, noting its potential to strengthen regional energy stability. This move comes amid a prolonged national electricity crisis characterized by increasing blackouts and social unrest. While the government attributes these failures to sanctions and sabotage, opposition figures and experts point to corruption and lack of maintenance.
In a separate local effort, CORPOELEC also installed a new transformer in the Los Centauros community within the San Fernando municipality of Apure state to resolve reported service incidents and optimize energy supply for local households.
