Corporación El Rosado advances Hipermarket Barbasquillo construction in Manta

Corporación El Rosado is advancing the construction of the new Hipermarket Barbasquillo in Manta, Ecuador. Located on a 28,000 square meter site facing the Wyndham hotel, the three-level complex is expected to be completed in 2026.

The project will house several major brands, including Mi Comisariato, Hipermarket, Ferrisariato, Mi Juguetería, and Supercines, alongside dedicated areas for gastronomy and entertainment. As of May, construction firm Arroyo & Arroyo Constructores reported that the project was approximately 70% complete.

Ámbar Quijije, director of the Manta Chamber of Commerce, noted that the development aligns with the rapid urban growth of Manta's southern zone. While the project is expected to boost the local economy and create jobs, Quijije emphasized the need for integrated road and environmental planning to manage the increased traffic in the busy Barbasquillo sector. To mitigate vehicle impact, the complex will include underground parking for 400 cars. Additionally, local infrastructure improvements include the regeneration of the Barbasquillo roundabout and asphalt work on nearby streets.
