Corporate CSR initiatives support community welfare in Indonesia

Various corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiatives are being implemented in Indonesia to support community welfare and environmental sustainability.

In Banjarmasin, Bank Kalsel has provided assistance to the ‘Bahe’mart’ Waste Bank to support food security and organic waste management through catfish cultivation. This initiative follows a previous program that distributed plastic bottle donation bins across 13 locations, which successfully collected 2,380 kg of plastic waste over seven months. The proceeds from the waste were used to create organic waste composters, creating a circular economy model.

In Barito Selatan, PT Riung is facilitating social protection for underprivileged residents living near its Muara Malungai mining operations. The company is registering community members in the village of Bintang Ara into the BPJS social security program. This program includes mechanisms for providing assistance in the event of a participant's death.
