Corporate IT Managers Overestimate Security, Study Finds

A study released in Munich reveals a structural security problem in companies, where managers often believe their IT systems are more secure than they actually are. While businesses are investing heavily in cybersecurity, they frequently assess success using inappropriate criteria, substituting activity for genuine protection. The report, titled "The State of Assumed Security 2026," is available for download.

The findings suggest that many organizations may be vulnerable despite perceived safeguards, highlighting the need for better measurement of actual security effectiveness.
