Corporate social responsibility and philanthropy drive social and economic impact

Javier De la Calle, president of the Centro Mexicano para la Filantropía (Cemefi), emphasizes that national transformation in Mexico requires a collaborative model involving corporate commitment and citizen participation. He notes that public authorities cannot solve all societal issues alone, citing developed nations like Canada where citizens are highly involved in community initiatives.

Cemefi currently manages an ecosystem of approximately 5,000 strategic allies, including 2,432 socially responsible companies and hundreds of civil society organizations. This collaborative approach aims to turn empathy into tangible actions to build a more equitable society.

Complementing this view, business initiatives are demonstrating that addressing social and environmental challenges can create shared value. Companies like Movistar have reduced carbon footprints through energy efficiency, while Olam Agri has strengthened supply chains by working with thousands of farmers. Similarly, Textiles Camones has utilized community talent training to reduce turnover and increase operational efficiency, proving that social responsibility can drive productivity and market access.
