Boxers from Colombia's Meta department earned a silver medal and five bronze medals at the 2026 National Elite Boxing Championship in Bogotá, securing qualification spots for the 2027 National Games. Silver medalist Wilys Mendoza finished second in the over‑90 kg category, while bronze went to Sara Fernanda Torres (51 kg), Sharon Hernández (63 kg), María Angélica Ávila (70 kg), Julieth Solís (+81 kg) and Jhonatan Ramos (75 kg). A total of eleven athletes from Meta qualified for the next stage of the Games selection process.

In the same tournament, the Huila delegation also performed strongly, claiming two bronze medals. Juan Pablo Jaramillo Rico won bronze in the 50 kg division and Sebastián Castañeda took bronze in the over‑90 kg category. Thirteen Huila boxers competed, with several reaching the top eight of their categories. Both departments highlighted the continued growth of boxing in their regions and the importance of the qualifier as a pathway to the 2027 National Games.

The event, held at Bogotá’s Palacio de los Deportes, featured more than 230 pugilists from across the country, and served as the first elite qualifying stage for the upcoming national multi‑sport competition.
