Corporations increase sustainability investments to drive ROI and resilience
Global corporate reports from Deloitte and Capgemini indicate that businesses are increasingly viewing sustainability as a core strategic driver for resilience and competitive advantage rather than a mere compliance obligation.
According to Deloitte’s ‘2026 C-suite Sustainability Report’, 78% of surveyed executives increased their sustainability investments over the past year. Notably, 77% reported that these investments yield a higher return on investment (ROI) compared to other business expenditures. While the number of individual sustainability initiatives per company has decreased, the focus has shifted toward more selective, high-impact actions centered on technology and operational resilience.
Similarly, Capgemini’s ‘A World in Balance 2026’ report highlights that 69% of organizations report positive returns from green investments. The research suggests that sustainability is now being utilized as a tool to manage risks associated with climate shocks and geopolitical instability. However, many firms still face challenges in quantifying the exact financial impact of supply chain disruptions caused by global warming due to a lack of predictive data.
