Corpus Christi Water Emergency Delayed Until Fall 2028
Heavy flooding has refilled reservoirs that supply Corpus Christi, Texas, pushing the city’s projected water‑supply emergency back to the fall of 2028. The reprieve gives municipal leaders additional time to pursue long‑term water solutions such as desalination and new infrastructure projects.
City Manager Peter Zanoni said the delay is “really, really good news for the community,” allowing the city to avoid a Level 1 water‑emergency declaration that would have triggered stricter usage restrictions for the 500,000 residents served across seven counties, the petrochemical corridor and the Port of Corpus Christi.
