Corral de Comedias de Robres premieres Mary’s Testament

The Corral de Comedias de Robres has premiered a new theatrical production titled ‘El testamento de María’ (Mary’s Testament). Based on the acclaimed historical fiction novella by Irish author Colm Tóibín, the play is presented as an intimate monologue set during the final years of Mary’s life in Ephesus.

The performance, adapted by the Aragonese company Arteria Producciones, depicts Mary as a real Jewish mother who remains skeptical of the mysticism surrounding her son, Jesus. The narrative explores her perspective on the political and religious turmoil that led to his crucifixion, offering a humanized and critical view of the events through her eyes.
