Correggio resident placed under therapeutic house arrest for condo attacks

Police in Correggio, Italy, opened an investigation after residents complained about a 40‑year‑old man who repeatedly created a climate of terror in his building. He shouted loudly at night and hurled objects from his balcony, including tissue‑soaked in feces, glass cups, burning toilet paper, knives and even a wardrobe door, at common areas and nearby homes.

The violence peaked on 17 June when he forced his way into a neighbouring courtyard, threatened the homeowner with death and struck her face, causing injuries that healed in five days. Two days later he attacked a woman entering the lift, punching her, locking the elevator doors and repeatedly kicking her while she lay on the floor, leaving her with fractures and a month‑long recovery prognosis. After the incidents, some residents used pepper spray while others temporarily relocated. The Carabinieri charged him with aggravated personal injuries and stalking (condominium harassment) with a repeat‑offender aggravating factor. A judge ordered his house arrest in a therapeutic‑rehabilitation facility.
