Correios launches land delivery service for Paraguayan online purchases

Correios has launched a new land transport service called Correios Packet, allowing Brazilian consumers to purchase products from Paraguayan online retailers and receive them directly at their homes. The service initially features two major retailers based in Ciudad del Este: Cellshop and New Zone Importados.

Under this new modality, packages can weigh up to 30 kg and include full tracking. Once shipments arrive at the Correios International Center in Brazil, they follow domestic delivery timelines, typically estimated between four and eight days. The operation is integrated with the Receita Federal’s Remessa Conforme program, ensuring that taxes are calculated and paid at the time of purchase.

For purchases up to US$ 50, the federal import tax is zero, though state-level ICMS (ranging from 17% to 20%) still applies. For orders exceeding US$ 50, a 60% federal import tax is levied, with a US$ 30 discount applied to the calculation, in addition to the state ICMS. This initiative aims to formalize cross-border trade, reduce logistics costs for retailers, and provide greater security and convenience for Brazilian shoppers.
