Correos workers protest staffing shortages and low wages in Spain

Workers at the Spanish postal service, Correos, are conducting protests across several provinces to demand improved working conditions and the restoration of staff levels. In Zamora, employees have organized demonstrations to protest low wages—with some earning approximately 800 euros per month—and the conversion of part-time roles into full-time positions. The union CSIF reports that while parcel volume has increased by roughly 60%, the workforce continues to shrink, particularly affecting rural areas like Sanabria and Alcañices.

In Cádiz, the labor conflict is also intensifying. CSIF claims the provincial workforce has dropped by nearly 40%, from approximately 1,000 employees to 600. This reduction has reportedly left several service centers operating with less than half of their required personnel. Specific areas such as Conil, Algeciras, and La Línea are facing significant service pressures, with thousands of notifications pending. The union is calling for new hiring, full-time contracts, and the renewal of the collective bargaining agreement to address the increased workload.
