Corrientes authorities investigate planned murder of 16-year-old student

Authorities in Alvear, Corrientes, are investigating the death of 16-year-old Cecilia Emilce Lezcano, which was initially suspected to be a suicide but is now being treated as a planned homicide. A 16-year-old male classmate has been detained following the discovery of incriminating evidence, including cell phone messages where he allegedly claimed that everyone “fell for the suicide story.”

Investigators utilized security footage, a footprint matching a sneaker found at the suspect's home, and the recovery of the victim's discarded cell phone to shift the direction of the case. Prosecutor Facundo Cabral stated that the evidence suggests the murder was premeditated.

The victim's parents, Raúl Lazcano and Manuela Corintia Vila, have officially joined the legal proceedings as complainants. They suspect additional accomplices may be involved, specifically pointing toward the girlfriend of the detained suspect. Furthermore, family members and investigators are looking into toxicology reports that suggest a substance may have been used to reduce the victim's resistance during the attack. The family also believes the fatal injuries may have occurred in a different location than the abandoned train station where blood was found.
