Corrientes celebrates first Correntino Dancer's Day at Teatro Vera

The city of Corrientes celebrated the first 'Día del Bailarín Correntino' (Correntino Dancer's Day) at the Teatro Oficial Juan de Vera. The event included a panel discussion titled 'History and Present of Correntine Dance' featuring Malena Bernich, founder of the Municipal Classical Dance School, and Lourdes Sánchez, President of the Corrientes Institute of Culture.

Participants discussed the local artistic legacy, the importance of quality training, and the need for more opportunities for new generations of dancers. The celebration concluded with a commemorative gala featuring various dance companies and studios.

In a related development, Lourdes Sánchez announced her return to the stage as a dancer in the production 'Bloody Tango' on September 4. This marks her first performance at the Teatro Vera in 18 years. Sánchez addressed potential scrutiny regarding her dual role as a public official and performing artist, stating that her professional background as an artist was known upon her appointment to the Institute of Culture.
