Corrientes completes coastal defense reconstruction at Islas Malvinas 2

The Municipality of Corrientes has completed the reconstruction of the coastal defense at Islas Malvinas 2 beach. The project follows significant structural damage caused by erosion, heavy rains, and a large tree fall that led to a collapse in December 2025.

The new containment wall measures approximately 60 meters in length and 3 meters in height. It features an optimized drainage system designed to prevent rainwater from further degrading the coastline and the bluff. This structural repair aims to eliminate safety risks for residents, tourists, and visitors.

Following the completion of the defense wall, the municipality is moving into a second phase of revitalization. This includes the construction of new stairs for beach access, a platform to expand the usable area of the waterfront, and the repair of three storm drains to prevent water from creating trenches in the sand. These improvements are part of a broader strategy to enhance Corrientes as a regional tourism destination.
