Corrientes deputies honor cardiologists for landmark research

The Corrientes Chamber of Deputies has honored specialists Estela Maris Macín and Eduardo Roque Perna from the Instituto de Cardiología de Corrientes. The recognition follows the duo receiving the prestigious Rafael Augusto Bullrich National Prize from the Academia Nacional de Medicina.

The honor recognizes their research titled ‘Infarto agudo de miocardio con elevación del ST en Argentina, 11 años del registro ARGEN-IAM-ST’. This decade-long study provides critical epidemiological data regarding ST-elevation myocardial infarction in Argentina, allowing for localized corrective health measures rather than relying on statistics from Europe or the United States.

Dr. Macín, head of the Coronary Unit Service, and Dr. Perna, a specialist in heart failure and former president of the Argentine Federation of Cardiology, were recognized for their contributions to scientific research and public health. The legislative resolution declares their work of provincial interest.
