Corrientes launches livestock financing program to boost meat industry
Governor Juan Pablo Valdés has announced the 'Corrientes Potencia: Ganadería' program, a joint initiative between the Government of Corrientes and Banco de Corrientes designed to modernize and expand the province's livestock sector. Announced during the 90th National Livestock, Farm, and Industry Exhibition, the program offers strategic financing lines to support producers.
A key feature of the initiative is a provincial subsidy of up to 10 percentage points on interest rates. One specific line, 'Capital de Trabajo', covers up to 100% of investments for forage, supplements, and sanitary supplies, with terms of up to 36 months and an estimated final annual rate near 20%. Another line, 'Retención de Vientres', aims to grow the provincial herd by financing up to 25% of declared female stock.
To complement these financial tools, the Ministry of Production will implement an experimental plan covering over 1,000 hectares to optimize sowing and evaluate seed yields for high-quality forage. This effort is intended to support feedlot systems and local meatpacking plants. The government also plans to establish a technical laboratory within the Ministry to provide producers with advanced technical knowledge regarding seed genetics and crop management.
