Corrientes launches maize pilot project to boost livestock production
The Government of Corrientes is launching a pilot project to evaluate maize cultivation across approximately 1,000 hectares to strengthen the province's livestock production. The initiative, led by the Ministry of Production in cooperation with Vertisoles S.R.L., aims to identify specific seed varieties that best adapt to the different productive environments within the region.
The project will cover all stages of production, including land preparation, planting, management, harvesting, and logistics. By gathering data on yields and nutritional requirements, officials hope to increase local forage reserves. This strategy is intended to provide a more consistent food supply for cattle and reduce the need to import inputs from other regions, ultimately supporting the fattening process for calves within Corrientes.
