Corrientes Mediation Center resolves long-standing legal cases

María Luisa Arostegui, the newly appointed head coordinator of the Corrientes Mediation Center, highlighted the efficiency of mediation in resolving long-standing legal disputes. She noted that cases, such as inheritance matters that have been stuck in court for over 20 years, can often be resolved in just two mediation sessions.

The Center, which operates under the Corrientes Judiciary and follows provincial law 5.931, allows parties to resolve conflicts through court referral or direct request. Common areas of mediation include alimony, communication rights, and personal care. Arostegui emphasized the human aspect of law and noted that Corrientes is a pioneer in mediation training, with two universities having integrated the subject into their curricula.
