Río Grande Council approves water freezing prevention and land tenure measures

The Río Grande City Council has approved several legislative measures aimed at supporting local production and infrastructure. One key ordinance establishes the “Municipal Sanitary Sanitation Program for the Prevention of Water Freezing.” This initiative uses a “Shared Effort” system where the municipality provides labor for thermal insulation and plumbing adjustments, while residents supply the necessary materials. The program seeks to prevent the recurring issue of frozen water connections, which led to over 400 emergency interventions last winter.

Additionally, the Council approved the regularization of land tenure for agricultural producers in the APYMEMA sector to support local development. Other approved measures include the creation of the “RGA Avícola” program and the “RGA Poultry Seal” to promote local poultry production. The Council also declared lands linked to the Argentine Navy within the municipal boundaries as being of municipal and strategic interest to facilitate urban and environmental planning.
