Corrientes police officer dismissed after massive cocaine bust

In a multi‑month investigation, federal police in Corrientes, Argentina, carried out seven simultaneous raids that seized 37.226 kg of cocaine, cash, firearms, precision scales and other equipment. The operation also uncovered a "shark" logo on the cocaine, suggesting a new criminal brand operating in the Argentine Littoral.

One of the two women arrested was a sub‑assistant officer of the Provincial Police of Corrientes. Following the arrest, the provincial police chief ordered her immediate administrative separation, stating that no officer is above the law and reaffirming a zero‑tolerance policy for criminal conduct within the force.

The probe was coordinated by the Federal Police’s Division Operativa Federal Corrientes, the provincial Directorate General of Dangerous Drugs and Organized Crime, and the local fiscal unit. Authorities highlighted the officer’s alleged role in facilitating drug transport from the neighboring Chaco province. The case underscores ongoing efforts to combat organized narcotics trafficking and internal corruption in Argentine law‑enforcement agencies.
