Corrientes trial begins for disappearance of Loan Danilo Peña
The oral trial regarding the disappearance of five-year-old Loan Danilo Peña has entered its third month in Corrientes, Argentina. Loan disappeared on June 13, 2024, following a lunch at his grandmother's house in El Algarrobal.
Seventeen individuals are currently facing trial. Seven defendants are accused of the abduction and subsequent concealment of the child, while ten others are accused of various maneuvers intended to divert, obstruct, or hinder the investigation. The proceedings involve a complex web of alleged irregularities involving police, investigators, and various organizations that have complicated the search for the truth.
The Federal Oral Court of Corrientes, composed of judges Fermín Amado Ceroleni, Eduardo Ariel Belforte, and Simón Pedro Bracco, is presiding over the case. Prosecutors Carlos Schaefer and Tamara Pourcel are representing the state as the court attempts to resolve questions regarding potential interference and the manipulation of the investigation.
