Loan Danilo Peña disappearance trial proceeds in Corrientes, Argentina

The family of missing child Loan Danilo Peña issued a statement urging the oral trial to stay focused on uncovering the truth and to avoid procedural obstructions. They stressed that the investigation must continue until the child's fate is clarified and called for accountability regardless of the political or economic status of any suspect.

During a recent hearing, the defense asked the Corrientes tribunal to summon Sebastián Pardo, a complainant in a related federal case, to testify. Prosecutors argued the request is intended to delay the trial, while the court will decide on the motion in the coming days.

Federal prosecutor Carlos Schaefer clarified that the trial is aimed at determining who abducted Loan, noting that many witnesses and pieces of evidence, including text messages, remain to be presented. He rejected claims that the prosecution has lost interest, emphasizing nationwide concern over the child's disappearance.
